Our cafeteria team knocked it out of the park today!
We truly have the BEST Cafeteria Staff in the state, hands down. Their meals are always incredible, but today’s Thanksgiving Feast was on a whole different level. From the green-iced donuts this morning to the green sprinkles at lunch, they went all-in to help us celebrate being a GREEN school on KSA!
Thank you to our amazing team for taking such pride in serving our students. FCHS appreciates you more than you know!

💚 What a Day at FCHS! 💚
Our staff showed up bright and early wearing green and welcoming students into the building to kick off a huge celebration for our Panthers!
Fleming County High School is officially a GREEN School! Based on our Spring KSA results, FCHS has reached Green status for the first time since the new accountability system began. This reflects the hard work, growth, and commitment of our students, staff, and families.
Thank you for your dedication, your hard work, and for believing in excellence every day!

FCHS picture retakes are tomorrow. There will be a setup for grades 9-11 and a setup for seniors. Seniors, please have your picture taken tomorrow if you missed the first date. This will be the LAST chance to take senior pictures.

Today, Fleming County High School proudly honored the brave men and women who have served our country. We are deeply grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting our freedoms.
Thank you to all who joined us for today’s program and especially to the veterans in attendance. Your service will never be forgotten.

Friday, Colonel Jaimie Henson, KY CAP Wing commander, visited FCHS. During the visit, she and key members of her staff spent time with the cadets, presenting each cadet with a commander's challenge coin. She also presented coins to Capt Litteral, Mr. Hart, and Mrs. Barker. During the pep rally, Col Henson presented FCHS with the official charter from CAP National Headquarters, signifying the creation of the KY802nd Squadron as The FCHS Covered Bridge Cadet Squadron.
During the pep rally, Principal Hart presented a US flag that was flown over FCHS on graduation day for 20 minutes and 25 seconds to signify the Class of 2025 to thank Cheap Chevrolet for their unwavering support of FCHS.

After several days of inclement weather, the 9th Grade Social Studies students began excavating the Panther Dig. Student teachers from Morehead State University were helping students learn to carefully examine and process simulated artifacts. Stay tuned for what they may find!

Today in Mrs. Gay’s class, within the Teaching and Learning pathway of Professional Education, the FCPA students visit every Thursday. During these visits, the students lead short lessons with them, such as reading, writing activities on the desks, and other fun, engaging activities.

Our students are diving deep into history! Today in US History they created bubble maps to show why and how the United States participated in imperialism during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Tomorrow, they’ll step up and present their projects to the class, sharing their ideas, connections, and explanations of this important period in history. Proud of the critical thinking and creativity they’re bringing to their learning!

📚✨ Our ENG 100 dual credit students shared their personal writing! ✨📚 Instead of just checking boxes on a teacher-made list, we practiced something deeper: 🔹 Asking for the kind of feedback we need 🔹 Showing where our strengths already shine 🔹 Trusting one another to give honest encouragement + support. Peer writing groups should be more than a task; they should be safe spaces where writers grow because they choose the feedback that helps them move forward.

This year, Mrs. Compton started a new exhibition opportunity for her art students. This exhibition will teach students how the jury process and a real life exhibition works. This year's theme is Kentucky through the lens of our FCHS students. They may use their own unique style, styles of famous artists or their choice of media and subject to create a Kentucky art piece.

📣 Panther Nation, meet our new Head Softball Coach, Tanna Higginbotham! 🥎
We are excited to welcome Coach Higginbotham as the new leader of our Fleming County High School Softball program. Her journey in athletics has been full of experiences that have prepared her to guide our student-athletes both on and off the field.
Coach Higginbotham began her college softball career at Daytona State College from 2011 to 2013 before continuing at Morehead State University from 2013 to 2016, where her love for coaching truly took root. She first stepped into coaching at Chariton High School and soon found her way to Fleming County. Over the years, she has poured her energy into multiple programs here—serving as an assistant softball coach in 2017 before stepping into the role of head softball coach from 2018 to 2021. Her passion for coaching didn’t stop there. She also coached basketball, joined the volleyball program in 2019, and has led volleyball to some of its most successful seasons ever, including the winningest year in school history with 20 victories and a district championship in 2023.
Now, she is returning to the diamond, ready to bring that same level of commitment and drive to our softball program. When asked about this new opportunity, Coach Higginbotham shared, “I am excited to lead this program. Not just to build strong softball players, but to build strong women who become leaders in life.”
We can’t wait to see the next chapter of Panther Softball unfold under her leadership. Let’s give her a warm welcome, Panther family! 🐾

Our AP Human Geo students put their teamwork skills to the test by piecing together a giant world map! They relied on their prior knowledge and, more importantly, on one another to complete the challenge. The conversations were incredible, the collaboration was inspiring, and every single student was engaged.

Our Juniors took inspiration from America’s great inventors this week, studying Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, and the Wright Brothers. On Thursday, they put their creativity to the test by designing inventions of their own using only materials and imagination.
On Friday, students proudly presented their prototypes, showcasing innovation, problem-solving, and collaboration. We’re so proud of their hard work and big ideas!

Our 9th grade science students engaged in a hands-on laboratory activity, working collaboratively in groups to explore chemical reactions through the creation of slime. This engaging experience fostered both scientific inquiry and teamwork.

Today in Reading class with Mrs. Trent, students took on a lesson with a twist (or should we say… a flip 😉). We’ve all seen teenagers flipping water bottles, and today it became more than just a trend. Mrs. Trent challenged students to notice how a tiny adjustment like a little less water, a steadier hand, or a softer toss could mean the difference between failure and success. Just like in reading (and in life!), sometimes it’s not about making huge leaps forward, but about finding the small, smart changes that add up to big wins. Students learned: 🔹 Success often comes after practice. 🔹 Small adjustments can make all the difference. 🔹 Persistence + patience = progress. And yes… there were some pretty epic flips, too! 🎉🙌
